After spending 14 years with national law firm, Bond Dickinson LLP, Russell added his considerable professional weight to the Muckle team in 2014.

The expertise and experience which Russell has amassed over the years has been gained in advising a wide range of public and private sector clients, from PLCs and local authorities to small community-based charitable organisations. These days, his particular focus is on registered providers and the social housing sector within which they operate. Indeed, he has a detailed understanding of that social housing sector and of housing law and practice, landlord and tenant, as well as leasehold law and practice.

In addition to advising on non-contentious housing matters, we’re pleased to say that Russell has also built a really solid reputation for providing specialist and pragmatic advice for corporate governance, constitutional and regulatory matters. This he has achieved by assisting clients within the sector to attain excellent governance within their organisations and compliance with the requirements of Regulators, including the Homes and Communities Agency, Charity Commission and the Financial Conduct Authority.

Part of his role at Muckle is to co-ordinate delivery of the comprehensive range of legal services which the Firm provides to registered providers and others in the sector, as well as to continue to develop and build on that offer for the benefit of our clients. Russell is passionate about the social housing sector and thrives on working in partnership with Registered Providers and others to help improve the communities within which they operate, and to deliver new affordable housing whether that is through traditional or innovative new delivery models.

As well as his vast knowledge of the social housing sector, Russell has also amassed a considerable amount of know-how about cooking. In fact he loves to cook and is fortunate enough to have a willing group of friends and family who are ‘happy’ to act as guinea pigs and sample whichever type of cuisine he has been experimenting with most recently.
