Ian Fells


An environmental consultant and Principal Consultant at Fells Associates, Ian is engaged by Muckle LLP in an external consultancy capacity, not least because his broad and various experience in the energy sector. This incorporates being founder chairman of the New and Renewable Energy Centre (Narec) in Blyth, Emeritus Professor of Energy Conversion at Newcastle University and author of some 250 published papers on topics as diverse as the chemical physics of combustion, fuel cells, energy economics, environmental protection, energy conversion systems and energy policy.

Ian was also science adviser to The World Energy Council (1987 – 1998), and has been special adviser to the several Parliamentary select committees, energy adviser to the EC and European Parliament and has advised a number of foreign governments on energy policy.

His comprehensive understanding of energy matters has made Alastair a strong proponent of nuclear power, which he believes is definitely the way forward if we all want to keep switching on our kettles.
