Loren-Joseph Pillay

Legal Support Assistant

LJ joined Muckle in November 2016 initially as a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution Team.

He currently manages the firms clerking services helping support schools and colleges in the region.

LJ also assists the solicitors in the Education and Employment teams by carrying out in-depth research to find solutions for our clients.

He now calls Newcastle home after moving to the Toon from Durban, South Africa.

LJ’s legal career in South Africa, has seen him practise, on both sides of the bar, as an Attorney and later as an Advocate of the High Court. He gained much of his experience in advocacy and contentious work, over a broad range of practise areas. This instilled a passion for analysis and research of law.

Outside of work, LJ has many interests. He is a keen explorer, travelling to various sites across the UK and Europe, usually with camera in hand. LJ has a love of music and a diverse taste in what he listens to. He is no stranger to playing music either, and plays the bass guitar, when required, for local bands. Keeping true to his roots, he is an advocate of outdoor cooking over an open fire, enjoying the South African pastime of braai’ng.
