About Amy

Amy is your go-to lawyer for any contentious and non-contentious employment law advice, and nationally recognised as a 'Recommended Lawyer' by Legal 500 UK. She is renowned for her down-to-earth approach and has specialist knowledge of education, social housing and charity sectors.

Amy has enviable experience in defending employment litigation claims with a particular interest in complex claims involving discrimination and whistleblowing complaints.

As well as being the firm's corporate immigration specialist she leads our Employment team’s training, development and delivery programme to help businesses upskill staff to self-support.

'The service we’ve received from Amy and the team has always been excellent and I cannot recommend Muckle more highly. Amy is always clear and concise in her advice, which is absolutely what we need as well as being fantastically responsive and always available when I need her.'

Amy leads our business immigration team, advising employers on all aspects of immigration, including the prevention of illegal working and options for organisations wishing to employ migrant workers within the UK.

She has significant experience in supporting organisations to become licensed sponsors of skilled workers and advising employers on their obligations as a licensed sponsor.

Education

Amy is passionate about the education sector and regularly supports schools, academies, colleges and universities with employment law issues. Amy is skilled at undertaking complex and sensitive investigations (including safeguarding concerns, and allegations of misconduct) and working with Boards of Trustees and Governors to resolve concerns and implement her recommendations. As a skilled public speaker, Amy regularly provides bespoke training on employment law issues to organisations in the education sector and is praised by a client in this sector for her “exceptional” advice and approachable yet commercial style.

I have had the pleasure of working with Tony McPhillips and Amy Sergison on a particularly difficult organisational matter. Amy supported me with some pertinent education and training by way of remedy. The ying and yang of good employment law support at Muckle! Communication within the team is excellent as individuals always appear to be appropriately briefed.

She has additional expertise in business immigration and also leads on training development and delivery. Amy is also a trustee for Seven Stories.

'Amy took the time to get to know our organisation, as well as those working in the HR team and we, have all developed excellent working relationships with her.  Her understanding of ‘us’ and how we work means that her advice is always spot on, but she is always willing to engage in conversation if we feel something isn’t quite right for us and offer an alternative approach.

Amy’s advice is exceptional and she is always able to help us to assess risk levels in the ever-changing world of employment law.'
