Restructuring & Insolvency
Having a key role in our Corporate Real Estate Team means Jason is ideally placed to involve himself in the firm’s corporate finance and restructuring and insolvency transactional deals. By doing so he ensures that all the property advice given to our clients is pragmatic and in context with the overall transaction. And because the Property Team works at such a phenomenal speed in these circumstances, Jason helps them get to grips with transactions within a matter of hours to ensure that pre-set timelines are always adhered to.
Involving himself seems to be a recurring theme for Jason, as he is also a governor of Seaton Burn College and gives his time to several initiatives relating to improving social mobility, as well as undertaking one challenge each year to raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
But before he got into any of all this Jason developed his gift for languages, spending six months in Chicoutimi, Quebec teaching English and then a further six months in Kharkov in the Soviet Union (now the Ukraine), learning Russian and teaching English. What spare time he has these days is taken up with his family, mostly in the role of taxi driver, but also watching movies and walking the Northumberland coastline. Occasionally, you can also find Jason listening to French-Canadian radio and watching the films most other people hate – namely ‘world cinema’ He loves the outdoors, but especially the ‘kit,’ and enjoys going to the gym in what he describes as a ‘zoned out/not making much effort/listening to the iPod’ kind of a way.
