Partner and Head of Banking
When Louise joined Muckle in 2006 she was struck by the firm’s business-like approach and the fact that there is a very clear sense of purpose and ambition. These were qualities which resonated with Louise who specialises in acquisition finance transactions, property finance, debt restructuring, refinancing, guarantees, security and complex priority issues. She has a broad knowledge of the sector and because she acts for both lenders and borrowers, she is able to adapt her approach to reach the best outcome for the client.
Louise has been involved in a high-profile transaction for the Port of Tyne, advising and negotiating facility documentation for their senior debt with Barclays Bank plc. She is also responsible for leading client relationships with Muckle’s bank clients and regularly advises them on transactional documents. The team’s panel appointments currently include HSBC Bank plc, Lloyds Banking Group, Santander UK plc, Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank, Svenska Handelsbanken and Newcastle Building Society.
Louise was recently voted ‘Finance Individual (outside London) of the Year” in the 2019 Legal 500 UK Awards and has received excellent client feedback in Chambers & Partners, which states that she “gives sound and balanced advice, always looks for a practical way of doing things to make deals happen and possesses excellent knowledge.” She is widely admired for her expertise in debt restructuring, refinancing and general acquisition finance.
As well as getting great client reviews, Louise also likes to get lots of fresh air, especially in the form of long walks on the beach or in the Lake District. Combining her predilection for keeping fit with her love of the arts, Louise has been involved with the performing arts, particularly dance and choirs, for many years. Indeed, she has been a national dance champion and has performed recently at Sage Gateshead in a Blues choir. In between all that, she enjoys travelling and photography.
