Top turnout for Matfen 10k

The Muckle Runners were out in force in Northumberland recently for the Matfen 10k. 31 of our runners conquered the challenging course, which takes in the country roads around Matfen Village and Ryal.

Amazing performances

Solicitor Alex Blenkinsop, who leads weekly training sessions for the Muckle Runners and co-ordinates numerous activities throughout the year, said: “The Matfen 10K is always a great event, made even better this year thanks to an exceptional turnout from the runners and their families. There were some amazing times and personal achievements out there and I’m so proud of every single runner.”

Associate Giles McCourt, who established our couch-to-5k training, added: “There are some elite performers among the Muckle Runners, and many had never ran regularly before joining the firm. Some of our newest runners actually completed this year’s Great North Run just six months after starting their couch-to-5k training, and some are already preparing for their next half marathon.”

Amazing place to work

Hugh Welch, senior partner and keen marathon runner, was Muckle LLP’s fastest lawyer at Matfen, completing the hilly 10k course in an astonishing 41 minutes.

Hugh said: “Having our own running group is one of the many reasons why Muckle is such a fantastic place to work, and I would like to thank Alex and Giles for everything they have done to promote the Muckle Runners, engaging more of our people and making running together an exceptionally fun and rewarding experience for everyone.”

Our running, cycling and walking clubs were recognised as a key factor behind winning Best Medium Company at the Journal’s recent Best Places To Work awards and also contributed to achieving an Investors In People Health and Wellbeing accreditation for the firm.
