Muckle supports major acquisition by Kitwave Wholesale Group
Two leading food service wholesalers combine with the support of commercial law firm, Muckle LLP.
Kitwave Wholesale Group has acquired Fife Creamery, a retail and foodservice wholesaler, in a deal designed to strengthen the future of both parties.
The Muckle team provided legal support to Kitwave which enables the group to advance its growth ambitions north of the border, positioning Fife Creamery at the heart of its Scottish operations.
Fife Creamery, already an established and respected name with strong market position in Scotland, represents an important strategic acquisition for the Kitwave group which has a network of 37 depots.
Kitwave has committed to preserving the Fife Creamery brand and operations, and customers and suppliers have been assured there will be no change in the day-to-day operations. The existing leadership structure remains in place as does the managing director.
Coming at a time when the founders of Fife Creamery, the Simpson family, are planning to step back, they can also feel reassured that the company they set up is in safe hands going forward.
Partner, Charlie Fielding led the Muckle team, supported by partner Sara Evans, and solicitors Lauryn Hellewell, Ben Evans, Atif Salim, Paula Normington and Dan Montana.
Charlie Fielding said: "We were really pleased to oversee this acquisition which promises to deliver mutual benefit to both parties.
"Helping progress Kitwave’s ambitions for expansion, the deal also secures the long-term future of Fife Creamery. As well as protecting the brand, the deal secures investment, scale and support to allow the company to flourish into the future."
Ben Maxted, chief executive at Kitwave Wholesale Group, said: “Fife Creamery has established itself as one of Scotland’s most respected food wholesalers, with a strong market position, an experienced leadership team and a customer-focused approach that aligns closely with our own values.
“This acquisition strengthens our presence in Scotland and represents an important step in our long-term growth strategy. We look forward to working closely with the team in Kirkcaldy and investing in the business as it continues to build on its success.”
