We were proud to see 13 members of our team tie up their running shoes and take part in the world’s biggest half-marathon this year.

The 45th edition of the Great North Run saw 63,000 runners participate in the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields, with Jill Cull (business development manager), Jack Higgins (junior secretary), Zoe Jackson (associate solicitor), Kelly Jordan (partner), Alex Speirs (partner), Harry Wade (paralegal), Rebecca Watson (solicitor), Victoria Walton (senior solicitor apprentice), Lydia Stewart (associate solicitor), Cassie Woodier (trainee solicitor), Hayley Bartram (senior associate), Rachel List (partner) and Philip Clare (partner and head of corporate) amongst this years’ competitors.

Balancing purpose with PBs

Many of our team members chose to raise money for incredible charities based in the North East and beyond.

Five of our runners raised vital funds for Teesside-based charities. Jill Cull ran for the MFC Foundation, while Hayley Bartram ran for The Teesside Charity, Cassie Woodier and Rachel List supported Teesside Hospice and Lydia Stewart chose to fundraise for My Sister’s Place.

Other members of the team ran in support of national charities or organisations based in Newcastle, with Victoria Walton running for Tiny Lives, Harry Wade supporting Parkinson’s UK, Jack Higgins raising money for St Oswald’s Hospice, Zoe Jackson taking part for Blood Cancer UK and Kelly Jordan fundraising for Mind (Tyneside and Northumberland).

As part of our ongoing purpose initiative and drive to further support our people’s fundraising efforts, we provided additional ‘boost funding’ of £500 to those who raised a minimum of £200, through the Muckle Fund at the Community Foundation.

Making strides

The team has worked so hard and got some serious miles in, both in and outside of work, to prepare for the day, and we are so proud of their achievement.

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part, as well as those who volunteered on the day!
