Helping others to eat and be merry

6th Dec 2019 | Corporate Finance

We usually build our office Christmas tree from recycled items but this year’s ethical tree has been stacked with brand new goods. Food, in fact, which will all be donated to our local food bank in time for Christmas.

Here’s to you

Thanks to the support of our clients and contacts we’ve continued to invest in our community. Over the years we have given more than £500,000 to local causes though our Muckle Fund at the Community Foundation, but we’re always striving to do more.

Food bank dependence is particularly troubling and it’s growing. 823,145 emergency food parcels were issued by food banks in April to September alone, 23% more the same period last year.

That’s why we’ve organised various collections this year, including our Christmas tree campaign, and we'll be accepting further contributions throughout the next two weeks so that we can handover as much food as possible. The more the merrier.

Here’s to them

Christmas 1984. Geldof and Ure set out to ‘feed the world’ and use Live Aid to help relieve famine in Ethiopia. Nobody expected that, 35 years later, hundreds of thousands of people in Britain would also be struggling with their own food crisis.

So please spare some shopping and pop into your local food bank or drop-off point. You could even do a ‘reverse advent calendar’ and donate something every day. If we all chip in a little, we can make a big difference to people and families in need this Christmas.

However you spend the season, we hope you have a fantastic time and, if you need us over the festive period, here are our Christmas opening hours .

Merry Christmas from everyone at Muckle LLP
