Thanks to our expertise in the energy sector, Muckle has become recognised as a specialist adviser for the energy supply chain on issues relating to:
- biofuels, solar;
- onshore and offshore wind;
- nuclear; and
- underground throughout the energy supply chain.
We advise none other than Europe’s largest handler of biomass. We were involved in the initial public offering (IPO) of energy supply and efficiency services company, Utilitywise plc. We are appointed to a national panel to advise Sustainable Development Capital LLP, the manager of a specialist energy efficiency fund into which the UK Government’s Green Investment Bank (GIB) has made a £50m commitment. And we have also provided contract support for the fabrication of an offshore oil and gas platform.
Our capabilities in the energy field have been significantly enhanced by our relationship with consultants, Professor Ian Fells and Alastair Fells. Both are internationally recognised experts in the energy sector. Professor Fells was the founder Chairman of the New and Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), was Science Adviser to The World Energy Council and has been Special Adviser to several Parliamentary committees concerning energy and the environment. He is Energy Adviser to the European Parliament and has advised a number of foreign governments on energy policy.
In true Muckle spirit we take an active role in promoting and supporting the energy sector. This we do in a number of ways, but primarily through training, by contributing to sector bodies such as the North East Energy Leadership Council, and by providing a discussion forum on LinkedIn called Energy Forum North East. We like to think it’s all just part of the service.
