About Gillian
An associate in our dispute resolution team, Gillian advises clients on commercial and construction disputes. She helps clients resolve disputes arising out of contractual, construction, data protection, shareholder, intellectual property, and regulatory matters, as well as providing risk and dispute avoidance strategy advice.
Gillian was named 'Dispute Resolution Leading Associate of the Year' at the Legal 500 UK Northern Powerhouse Awards 2026.
Before joining Muckle, Gillian had a career in the media and publishing sectors and cites her commercial awareness as the source of the quick, clear and concise advice, and friendly, reassuring attitude praised by clients.
Gillian advises construction industry clients in all manner of construction project disputes.
This includes disputes arising from standard from contracts (JCT, NEC and IChemE,), collateral warranties and professional consultancy contracts, professional negligence claims and statutory claims, including under the Building Safey Act and the Defective Premises Act,
She acts for employers, developers, contractors and sub-contractors in both adjudications and litigated disputes and provides strategic early stage advice for the most effective route to a final resolution.
With a background in consumer print, online media and television, Gillian has a working knowledge of the commerciality and variety of intellectual property rights.
At Muckle, Gillian has worked with consumer product software and digital start-ups, in particular on their data protection compliance, and assists with intellectual property, defamation and reputation management matters.
As part of the dispute resolution team, Gillian supports clients with contentious subject access requests, personal data breach management, and data subject and data protection claims.
Gillian previously advised clients in all sectors on data protection and GDPR compliance, drafted privacy documentation and liaised on points of policy with the Information Commissioner’s Office and has vast experience in all areas of data protection law.
