Muckle supports Pikup Padel with its new £1 million Gateshead facility
We are delighted to have supported Pikup Padel on the development of its new £1 million indoor padel facility in Gateshead, helping bring one of the North East's largest venues for the fast-growing sport to life.
The new 33,500 sq ft facility on Follingsby Lane features 11 indoor courts and creates an exciting new sporting and leisure destination for the region. Developed by Patrick Kendall and Derick Wilson, the venue is expected to create up to 10 new jobs and will offer opportunities for players of all ages and abilities, with coaching, events, children's programmes and partnerships with local schools.
Fastest-growing sport
Patrick Kendall, Director of Pikup Padel, said: "Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and the more I looked into it, the more obvious it became that there was a real gap in the market. People wanted to play, but there just weren't enough courts.
"What makes the venue unique is the combination of size, location and quality, from the courts and coaching to the friendliness of our staff. We've created a venue that welcomes everyone, whether you're picking up a racket for the first time or already play regularly. The project has been 11 months in the making, so we're incredibly excited to finally open our doors.
"We've also been very fortunate to work with some fantastic partners throughout the project and Muckle LLP in particular played a huge part in helping us to secure the unit by guiding us through the process to make this idea come to life."
