Muckle LLP expands its Real Estate team with two senior appointments

We have strengthened our award-winning Real Estate team with two new key appointments.

Senior Associate Deborah Lazenby and Associate Jennifer Pearson have joined us following an increase in the regional and national clients the firm is now attracting.

Large high profile projects in the North East

Our Real Estate team is currently involved in some of the North East’s largest and most high profile construction and property development projects including the Stephenson Quarter, the Newgate Centre and Science Central.

Deborah Lazenby has joined us from Watson Burton and she brings over 13 years’ experience across a wide range of commercial property matters. She will act for clients across the retail, office and education sectors and also has significant experience in secured lending and large property portfolio management.

Exceptional reputation for client service

Deborah said: "Muckle has an exceptional reputation for its strong focus on client service and I was keen to join its award-winning Real Estate team.

“With its diverse range of clients and extensive multidisciplinary expertise, Muckle is where I want to develop and progress my career."

As well as an increase in regional and national commercial property work, our Real Estate team has also seen the volume of our dispute resolution work increase by 28% in 12 months, led by Partner Charlotte McMurchie.

Jennifer has 10 years’ experience in all manner of property, landlord and tenant and housing disputes, with particular expertise in commercial property disputes. She previously worked at Bond Dickinson LLP and Swinburne Maddison LLP.

“a great place to work”

Jennifer said: "Muckle is certainly living up to its reputation as a great place to work and I am surrounded by people who really know their stuff and are passionate about what they do.

"I want to develop my career meeting clients, getting to know their business and working out how I can help them succeed. Muckle encourages all its lawyers to do just that, think freely and be proactive, not to simply sit behind a desk waiting for instructions.

Exciting development and growth

"Muckle recently won Property Law Firm of the Year at the Insider North East Property Awards, which in part was due to the development of its social housing and real estate litigation teams. Contributing to that development and growth is really exciting."

Jonathan Combe, Partner and Head of the Real Estate team, said: "We are delighted to welcome two such high caliber and experienced lawyers to our team.

"The Real Estate team at Muckle has grown significantly over the past two years and we have been able to expand our services, adding specialist social housing and real estate dispute resolution sub-teams.

"Deborah and Jennifer have joined us at a very exciting time and we wish them every success for their future careers here at Muckle."
