Tekmar secures far east offshore deal

Tekmar Energy – based in Newton Aycliffe – has been selected by power cable provider JDR Cables, part of TFKable Group, to make a protective coating for undersea cables for a Taiwan wind farm.

Tekmar will provide its Cable Protection System TekLink® Mechanical Latch for the twenty turbine, 122MW Formosa 1 Phase 2 project, based 6km off the Taiwan coast. The project is due to complete this year and Tekmar will be providing 60 cable protection systems and 60 hang off clamps which hold the subsea cable in place.

Tekmar Energy managing director Russell Edmondson said: “We are delighted for Tekmar to be selected as the cable protection system and hang off supplier for Formosa 1 Phase 2.

“This continues Tekmar’s relationship with JDR Cables and furthers our position as the world market leader in offshore wind cable protection systems.”
