Waste heat to travel by river barge

18th Nov 2016 | Energy

Scottish heat storage specialists Sunamp are preparing to transport waste heat to Bristol by barge. The project aims to use the heat to support the city’s district heating scheme.

In a landmark project with Bristol City Council, heat collected from waste treatment facilities in Avonmouth is planned to be shipped to the city by river. Eventually up to 32 containers could be used to transport 64MWh of heat per trip. Sunamp are currently applying to Innovate UK for funding and once secured will carry out a 3 month trial
