Blades of glory in Blyth

28th Mar 2018 | Energy

A giant 88 metre wind turbine blade, one of the longest in the world, is being tested at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult site at Blyth over the coming months as part of a European project.

ORE Catapult is a leading player in research and design off offshore wind turbines. The LM Wind Power blade has been developed as part of XL-Blade, an EU funded project aiming to reduce the cost of offshore wind power through design, validation and deployment of the world’s largest offshore wind turbine blade.
