Big brands unite to tackle climate change

The business led campaigning and training group Business in the Community has brought together a ‘Net Zero’ Carbon Taskforce which aims to encourage businesses to address and reverse the effects of what is being described as a climate crisis.

Big names join forces

The taskforce is being chaired by the CEO of Drax Group’s business to business energy supply operation with members also including organisations such as Sky, Aston Martin, EDF Energy, Lloyds Banking Group, UPS, BEIS, the Environment Agency and Eco-Act, together with Drax Group.

The new business led taskforce has been launched as the government announced its commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The group will work on a business toolkit to enable action across operations and value chains and also produce a roadmap to describe how business can help towards the move to net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy expert view

“Good to see some key businesses getting behind the move to ’net zero’ green house gas emissions, we’ll certainly need a significant shift in approach across all sectors if we are to meet this aspiration.” Alastair Fells MEI, Incorporated Eng, PG Dip Fuel Tech, BSc Hons
