£21million Awarded to Energy Entrepreneurs to Develop Low Carbon Technologies

Over 40 entrepreneurial organisations, working in the energy and low carbon sectors, have been successful in being awarded funds totalling £21million under DECC’s energy entrepreneurs fund.  The energy storage competition and advanced heat storage scheme was set up by DECC to help encourage innovation.

  • £16million has been awarded to thirty projects under the energy entrepreneur’s fund (part of £35million set aside in April 2012). Winning projects include smart energy control systems, new waste management systems and new insulation installation ideas;
  • 16 organisations have been awarded a share of £2million to help towards developing new ideas for energy storage; and
  • £3million has been awarded to organisations for feasibility studies and demonstration of new designs for compact heat storage in the domestic sector.
