About this vacancy

The role

The Sports, Education and Charities team is an exciting and dynamic team which works with a broad range of clients nationally across all three sectors.  The nationally recognised team works daily on a broad and varied range of matters, from day to day legal advice through to a range of interesting projects including mergers, collaborations and restructures.

The successful candidate should have:

  • experience in relation to a full range of charity law issues;
  • experience and good working knowledge of:
  • the legal structures of charities and ‘not for profit’ organisations;
  • constitutional and governance issues;
  • mergers and restructuring;
  • fundraising;
  • trading and commercial agreements; and
  • excellent people and client management skills.

Experience with clients in and familiarity with the sports and/or education sectors would be an advantage.

So who are we looking for?  We want a charities lawyer, 5 years plus PQE, with strong technical ability in this area of law who enjoys delivering great client service.  We are looking for a team player who can easily integrate into a busy and active team, supporting on its business development strategy.  An individual who is willing to get involved with all areas of business development, is proactive and can interact well with clients and colleagues and take responsibility for creating practical, commercial solutions for our clients.  

You can also take advantage of our agile working policy which allows our people to work 2 or 3 days per week from anywhere, depending upon business needs, providing excellent services to various organisations throughout the UK and beyond.

The Muckle Team

The sports, education and charities team is a key part of the wider Muckle LLP team, which is over 190 people strong and we are all based at a single site office in central Newcastle upon Tyne – a city we have operated from for over 100 years.  We also have a Cumbria Hub, which our team can use as a base when working in the North West.
