Newcastle Named as the UK's Greenest City

21st Oct 2010

The Sustainable Cities Index has ranked Newcastle as the most sustainable city in the UK for the second year running.  The Index, which measures the twenty largest cities in the UK against a number of environmental factors, such as air quality, recycling and transport, said in its report that Newcastle had set itself ‘ambitious targets based on long term planning’ and is ‘leading the way’ by a clear margin. In recent years, Newcastle has found itself to be centre of a vibrant clean-tech culture of the North East and is benefiting socially and economically from the emerging green economy.

Based in Newcastle, at Muckle LLP we are proud of the contribution we have made to this great achievement for the city.  We are continually taking active steps to prevent waste and decrease our overall impact on the environment.  We know that by raising awareness and engaging our people in environmental issues we can invigorate a real change.  Muckle LLP is a responsible business which strives for continuous improvement in everything that we do.  A practical ethos towards how we use resources runs through the firm and efficiency is high on our list; a green business is an efficient one.

In July 2010 our efforts in this area were recognized as, in conjunction with the British Standards Institution, our Environment Management System was assessed against the international environmental standard ISO 14001:2004.  We are delighted to have gained certification and achieved the standard.
