Carla Boaks, Hugh Welch, Lydia Stewart and Alison Jones of Muckle LLP, hosting a podcast for Trustees Week

We’re proud to be hosting a brand-new podcast this Trustees Week, which will cover a range of topics related to trusteeship, from the advantages of being a trustee to the key challenges.

Our people are trustees and governors of a number of charities and schools throughout the region, so we have hands-on experience and understanding of the region’s social, political and economic framework.

In this latest episode of ‘The Legal Spectrum’, our legal experts and trustees Alison Jones, Hugh Welch, Lydia Stewart and Carla Boaks walk us through how they chose to use their legal expertise for good, the charities they support and how they got started as trustees.

What to expect from our latest legal podcast

Senior partner and trustee of Clean Slate Solutions, Hugh Welch, shares some of the challenges of being a trustee, whilst senior associate and trustee of The British Museum, Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust Limited and MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology), Alison Jones, explains how you can manage the time commitments associated with being a trustee.

Solicitor in our real estate team and trustee of Choysez, Lydia Stewart, delves into what it’s like to be a younger trustee and how young people are often underrepresented on the boards of charities.

The team also offer up their top tips to anyone considering becoming a trustee and the importance of joining a charity you have a real passion for.

Using legal expertise for good

The podcast is aimed at anyone looking to use their legal skills to support charitable organisations in their community and launches on 3 November 2025.

You’ll be able to access this podcast and other podcasts on our channel on our website.
