Data Protection Basics Training

This training session is for those new to data protection who want to increase their knowledge in this area, or those looking to consolidate their knowledge. The training will help individuals understand:

the relevant legislation, key data protection terms and the regulator;
the data protection principles and lawful bases;
individual data protection rights;
how to manage a personal data breach;
how to recognise, manage and respond to a subject access request (SAR); and
controller/processor relationships and knowing when an organisation may require a data protection impact assessment (DPIA).

Data protection is a complex area of law, and a basic understanding of it is key for anyone with responsibilities in this area. Under data protection legislation, organisations are legally required to provide sufficient training for their staff. It is also in an organisation’s best interest to have training in place to limit any personal breaches or other data protection infringements from occurring.

This training session is designed for beginners who are new to data protection legislation. It will be helpful for anyone who is newly responsible for an organisation’s data protection compliance to consolidate their knowledge, including but not limited to:

The session will run from 9.30am until 12.30pm including a short break and time for questions.
