Construction and Engineering Partner
- Type: legal
- PQE: 8 years plus
About this vacancy
The role
The Muckle Construction and Engineering Team has a broad and varied spread of interesting and demanding projects and an ever expanding client base.
We are looking for someone with around 8 or more years PQE in construction and engineering related dispute resolution including experience of the adjudication process. The ideal candidate will currently be a Partner or a Senior Associate (or equivalent) looking to make the transition to partnership.
A transferable client base is not considered essential, but the right candidate will have a real willingness to develop and grow the team’s client base through active business development.
This is a real opportunity for the right candidate to develop their own team whilst relying on the support of the firm’s existing non-contentious construction team.
The Muckle Team
The construction and engineering team is a key part of the wider Muckle LLP team, which is over 190 people strong. Our people are based across our Newcastle, Cumbria and Teesside offices.
Muckle LLP has a long-standing commitment to agile working, enabling our team to work from wherever is most suitable for them. Our modern office facilities complement this flexibility, ensuring our people have everything they need to deliver excellent service to our clients and each other.
Our people and values
Our people are the foundation of our business, and everything we do is underpinned by our four core values:
- Trust – we trust each other to do the right thing
- Teamwork – we are one team and work selflessly for each other
- Responsibility – we are self-starters and take responsibility for how we work together and communicate
- Care – we care about our people, clients and community
It means, no matter who you speak to, we provide the same excellent service from people who do what they say, on time and on budget, every time. That’s the Muckle way.
Our culture
We want everyone to understand how our business is run and encourage all our people to get involved. We are also proud of the communities in which we live and work and give our people many ways to support them.
For example, you could use your two days’ paid volunteering leave to support a local cause you care about or nominate them for a grant from our Muckle Fund at the Community Foundation.
From workplace running, netball, cycling and walking clubs to fun events organised by our BEAM (Being Engaged At Muckle) team and participation in our Green Team to help make the business as environmentally friendly as possible, we’ve created a unique and award-winning place to work:
- B Corp Certified™ - the first law firm in the North East and Cumbria to achieve this accreditation, we are leading the charge in ethical and sustainable business practices within our region and it forms the next part of our ESG strategy and continuous improvement
- Investors In People Platinum award accreditation
- North East Best Place to Work 2024 and 2023
- North East Business of the Year 2023
- North East Better Health at Work Maintaining Excellence award
- Advanced Good Work Pledge
- Award for Most Inspiring Employer (large business) 2022 and 2023 at the Inspiring Females Awards run by the North East of England Chamber of Commerce
We are really proud of the results of our recent Investors In People survey, in which 99.2% of our people believe Muckle is a great place to work and 100% share the firm’s values. Our overall results place Muckle LLP in 147th position for ALL Investors in People organisations (of which there are over 10,000 throughout the world) and 2nd for legal firms globally.
So how does all that sound? If you’re looking to work in a friendly, open environment and want to develop your career in a forward thinking, commercial North East law firm, then this is an excellent opportunity.
