We celebrated a double success last night as we were awarded ‘Business of the Year’ and ‘Best Place to Work’ at the finals of the North East Business Awards.

The awards, which celebrate business excellence in the region, held its final at Hardwick Hall, bringing together the winners of the Northumberland & Tyneside, Durham, Sunderland & South Tyneside and Durham heats.

Business of the Year

This award recognises businesses that have performed exceptionally in commercial terms, innovation, impact or customer service. This year, we recorded a turnover of £16.3million up to March 2023 from our head office in Newcastle and regional hub in Penrith in Cumbria. This represents a 14% growth compared to 2022. It is our second consecutive year of double-digit growth.

Best Place to Work

We were awarded an Investors in People Platinum award in November 2022, ranking 2nd in the world for law firms of its size. It won the North East Business Awards Best Place to Work and Excellence in Organisational & People Development at the North East HR&D Awards for Excellence in Organisational & People Development.

Exceptional business community

Jason Wainwright, managing partner, said: “Winning not one, but two awards is great recognition for the superb work that our team does on a day-to-day basis, and I am so proud of our team who work really hard to achieve such high standards for our people and clients.

“The principles behind the awards – celebrating innovation and creativity and honouring brilliant people going the extra mile for their customers and clients – align with our own values – so we’re delighted to have been recognised for our approach.

“This week, we posted record results for the second year running, and I believe it’s the qualities we demonstrated to win both ‘Business of the Year’ and ‘Best Place to Work’ that have contributed to this. Clients have better experiences when they deal with happy people who feel valued. Which in turn drives profit and growth, allowing us to invest back into the things that are most important to us - our people, clients and communities.”

“There is so much exceptional talent in the North East business community, and this is a celebration of all the businesses – congratulations to all the finalists and winners.”
