Muckle LLP Helps Create Construction Jobs with Jbt Waste Services Acquisition

11th Aug 2009

Bedlington-based JBT Waste Services has successfully completed the acquisition of waste management business Chester-le-Street Skip Hire of Birtley.

The move significantly strengthens JBT's presence throughout the north east and boosts its recycling and waste management services south of the Tyne.

JBT, the largest independent recycling and waste management business in Northumberland, has raised the standard for professional waste services in the north east, with a remarkable 87% recycling rate.

The acquisition of Chester-le-Street Skip Hire brings a strategically important location to JBT and its clients. It is a milestone in the company's aim to be the leading waste services company in the north east.

Legal advice was provided by Craig Swinhoe and Jennifer Swansey of Muckle LLP.

Craig Swinhoe said: "JBT has a strong, ambitious strategic plan and excellent systems in place to underpin the success of this deal.  It is a company which has established an impressive track record for waste management in the north east. This is set to grow with the astute acquisition of Chester-le-Street Skip Hire."

Graham Palmer, JBT managing director said: "This is an excellent acquisition for us.  Chester-le-Street Skip Hire is a well-established business which provides us with a large site, waste transfer station, specialist transport and facilities at a superb location just off the A1."

JBT Waste Services has been in waste management for over thirty years.  It has built market share significantly over that time. The company has developed innovative waste solutions for all sectors of business, including construction, manufacturing, IT, healthcare and retail.

The company takes away all types of waste, such as cement, rubble, plastics and factory waste and recycles it effectively, hugely reducing the amount going to landfill.

Graham Palmer said: "It has been a challenging eighteen months for all business sectors, and recycling is by no means recession-proof. JBT has worked hard to keep close to our customers and we are pleased at the continuing strength of our business.  Our high standards of service have undoubtedly contributed to our robust performance.

"Buying Chester-le-Street Skip Hire underlines our commitment to the region and to the continued growth of JBT. This is our second major acquisition in the north east.  It means we can provide an even speedier service to customers in the south of the region."
