Insolvency Expert Joins Muckle LLP

17th Feb 2011

We are pleased to announce the new appointment of insolvency expert Andrew Cawkwell as a partner to lead the firm's restructuring and insolvency team.

Highly regarded in the marketplace, Andrew will lead the insolvency team at Muckle LLP, working integrally with the corporate finance and banking teams to help strengthen the specialist support available to businesses in financial difficulties.

Having acted for hundreds of businesses in many different company rescue scenarios over the past ten years, Andrew has contributed to saving thousands of jobs across the UK. One example involved the Riverside Bakery which was in such financial difficulties that the business was likely to collapse. Andrew successfully applied to court to appoint Baker Tilly as administrators and then achieved a sale of the business; securing employment for its staff.

Described by Chambers and Partners as having a 'holistic awareness of contentious and non-contentious insolvency law', Andrew said: "I'm delighted to join Muckle. The firm has a strong reputation for making corporate deals succeed and when I met the partners I was extremely impressed by everybody and how well Muckle is organised and run.

"Muckle LLP has a very clear strategy for success and it's great to feel part of that. I'm looking forward to building Muckle's reputation as the stand-out firm for helping businesses in the North East avoid insolvency."

Hugh Welch, senior partner at Muckle LLP, said: "Andrew brings with him a wealth of specialist expertise and we are delighted to recruit him. His appointment reflects Muckle's ambitious plans to support North East businesses through the breadth of advice we provide."

Andrew is a member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association and a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (“”R3″”) together with the Turnaround Management Association.
