New onshore wind farm in Lancashire

16th Jul 2014 | Energy

Durham based Banks Renewables has secured £11.7m from Royal Bank of Scotland to fund its sixth onshore wind farm, comprising three turbines which will be sited on agricultural land near Heysham in Lancashire.

The turbines will be supplied by Nordex, with connection to the grid expected in early 2015. Muckle LLP advised Bank Renewables on the front-end consultancy appointments for this project.

A related community benefits fund worth at least £250k, across the 25-year lifespan of the wind farm, will enable Banks Renewables to deliver a range of community and environmental improvements.  These improvements will be in partnership with local people, to help ensure tangible, long-term benefits result from the company’s presence in the area.

Banks Renewables currently operates four onshore wind farms and are expecting to begin work on the previously approved Hook Moor wind farm in West Yorkshire next year.
