At the same time as studying for his Graduate Diploma in Law at Northumbria University, Tom also went through every stage of the recruitment process here at Muckle. And in hindsight he says that it really was a genuinely enjoyable experience. In his opinion, the graduate recruitment team were always very open and friendly and, from the outset, were focused on getting to know each applicant as an individual. Tom also realised that at every stage of the exercise, Muckle was doing something that little bit different to other firms and it was obvious that a lot of effort and creativity had been put into the whole process.
As well as being a thriving commercial law firm with an exceptional reputation, something else that really appealed to Tom was Muckle’s culture. From the very start of his vacation scheme, time was invested by everyone at the firm in getting to know him and helping him to get to know us. So, by the time he had finished he really understood our values and was sure that this was where he wanted to be. Now Tom has started his training contract, that effort translates into providing the time and support necessary to ensure he receives the best quality training possible.
Being on the inside looking out, Tom understands that what Muckle looks for in potential recruits is individuals who are not only committed to becoming outstanding commercial lawyers, but who also share and embody the firm’s values.
Although he loves working here in the North East, Tom remains a proud Yorkshireman at heart. Despite this, he is a big fan of rugby union (not league) and when he isn’t watching international matches and tournaments he can often be found running through Jesmond Dene; one of his favourite places in the world!
