Em finished her law degree convinced that a career as a lawyer wasn’t for her but after working with Muckle as part of her post-graduate employment, she soon realised that there was a place she could practice law with non-stuffy, straight-talking, down-to-earth people. Muckle was a perfect fit for Em, who is proud to do law the Muckle way – delivering commercial advice, uncluttered by legal jargon.
Em had previous experience as an employment law specialist working for the Community Legal Service and so, when she joined the firm as a Trainee, her aim during her training contract was to keep an open mind and see whether any other area of law impassioned her as much as employment law. Em gained a broad range of experience during her training contract, completing seats in corporate, employment, construction and dispute resolution. Whilst Em enjoyed her time in all teams and her varied training contract developed her into a well rounded adviser, she described qualifying into the Employment Team as “coming home.” Her passion for employment law unwavering at the end of her training contract.
Aside from her infectious enthusiasm for her work, Em loves organising networking events and spends time with students at Northumbria University (where she did her degree) to talk about her experience and spread the word to aspiring lawyers that the law in practice is not as boring as some of the dusty statute books you come across during university days! The one part of university life that Em refuses to let go is her love of a good party – Em seems to be capable of finding any excuse to celebrate!
