We won this award after completing more transactions than any of the other corporate law firm in the North East, with deals that amounted to over £500m in total value. Judges were also impressed that we’re able to handle lots of UK-wide transactions from our single site in Newcastle, winning work ahead of firms that have a network of offices nationwide.

• Muckle LLP ranked as top dealmaker for 2017

Independent information services provider Experian CorpFin found we had advised on more deals valued above £500,000 than any other commercial law firm in the region. It was the fourth year running that our Corporate team has been the North East’s top dealmaker, after advising on 35 deals in 2017 – almost double our nearest competitor. • “Best Contribution by a Firm with an English Regional Head Office”

We were awarded this for the fourth time for our work and strong links in the North East communities and charities sector over the past 12 months. We were the only firm located in the North East that was nominated for any LawWorks awards in 2017.  In the last 12 months we have provided pro-bono advice worth over £77,000 and over 50 charities have benefited from our expertise.

In September 2017 we won:

• Corporate Lawyer of the Year – Philip Clare
• Deal of the Year (under £10m) – acquisition of OGN Group by Smulders Projects
• Deal of the Year (above £10m) – Newcastle Science Central

We have a strong track record in these awards, having won Corporate Law Firm of the Year more times than any other practice in the region. Seven times in 11 years to be precise.

At the inaugural North East event in May we won this award after beating competition from other regional law firms. Acting for the developers of three of the largest redevelopment schemes in Newcastle – Science Central, the Stephenson Quarter and Newgate Centre – was something that particularly impressed the judges.

• Heart of the Community Award – Tyneside and Northumberland

This award recognises our contribution to the overall well-being of the community, its environment and general quality of life. We are delighted to have won this award for the fifth time and it reflects the achievements and commitment by our people to our community.
