You are welcome to join us at the first of our North East’s Mayoral Race – engage with the candidates series.
Our intention is to give each of the region’s candidates the opportunity to speak to, and take questions from, the North East business community. Our hope is that we can provide a platform for the region’s businesses to listen, question and ultimately make an informed decision on an appointment that will be central to the future of our great North East.
Jeremy Middleton – Conservative
Last Thursday 3 March 2016, local entrepreneur, Jeremy Middleton, declared his intention to run in the North East’s mayoral election, which is expected to take place next year.
Making the announcement, Jeremy confirmed that he would seek the Conservative Party nomination for the North East Combined Authority, which includes the Newcastle, Durham, Northumberland, Sunderland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Gateshead local authority areas.
With the Chancellor ready to hand over control for transport, housing, skills and economic development in the region, selecting the right candidate to oversee and manage our devolution deal is absolutely critical.
Be informed. Ask your questions.
Jeremy has already outlined his five campaign ‘promises’:
1. More investment in schools & skills.
2. 100,000 new jobs by 2021.
3. Fairer funding for the North East.
4. The money to fix our transport.
5. Protecting our local NHS.
