Muckle LLP, Lombard Technology Services Ltd and Tait Walker are jointly hosting a seminar to explain how businesses can protect their Intellectual Property (IP), capture the value of their intangible assets and release cash locked into the development of business critical software.
The seminar will address:
- Protecting and defending your IP
- Releasing cash locked in software development
- How IP is valued and available tax reliefs
1. Protecting and defending your IP
Alex Craig will talk about what IP is, ownership rights, the importance of written contracts when dealing with IP and what can go wrong when ownership rights and contractual intentions are not documented.
2. Releasing cash locked in software development
David Forbes will talk about a Software Licence Solution from Lombard Technology Services (LTS) which is an innovative asset finance product that can support business growth by releasing precious cash locked in the development of business critical software.
When a business develops their own software and owns the IPR, this can be sold to LTS and LTS in turn licence the use of the software back to the business. Deals can be structured so that the commercial use of the software can be retained and controlled by client.
3. How IP is valued and available tax reliefs
Chris McCourt will talk about how IP is typically valued, what that means in the context of valuing your business for a transaction or a sale and leaseback of IP, and how the tax reliefs available can enhance value if planned in the right way.
Bob Paton will chair the seminar and questions from the audience.
