Heart of the Community Award

In March 2013, for the second year running, we won the ‘Heart of the Community’ Award for the Tyneside region of the North East Business Awards. This follows on the back of being named the overall winner in 2012. This award is important to us and reflects the huge spectrum of community work and activities undertaken by our people.

The Lawyer Awards 2012 winner:

Regional Law Firm of the Year

In June 2012 we received the Regional Law Firm of the Year award, organised and independently assessed by The Lawyer. Competition for this award was strong and we were shortlisted against larger firms from several major provincial cities across the UK. We were told by the organisers that the award reflects our vision and strategy, our excellent service model, the high levels of engagement amongst our people, our strong financial performance and our firm-wide corporate responsibility programme.

One of the judging panel members awarded Muckle full marks “for its impressive financial performance coupled with a strong commitment to social responsibility projects, focusing on making a contribution to the community.”  The judges said that Muckle sets an example not just at a regional level, but nationally.

2012 Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society Legal Awards: Law Firm of the Year & ‘Newcastle Prize’ to Zoe Ditch

In November 2012 we were named Law Firm of the Year at the Newcastle Law Society 2012 Legal Awards.

At the same dinner, Zoe Ditch was awarded the Newcastle Prize for the individual who received the highest mark from entries received on any Legal Practice Course.  To be eligible Zoe had achieved a first class honours degree and both a distinction and the highest marks on the LPC in the year.  We are delighted for Zoe.  It is a fantastic achievement.

Insider Dealmakers Awards 2012 winner: Corporate Law Firm of the Year and Deal of the Year

Muckle LLP has received awards at every North East Insider Dealmakers dinner since their inception in 2006.   In 2012 the firm was named Corporate Law Firm of the Year for an unprecedented fifth consecutive year.

We also advised on the Deal of the Year, in listing Utilitywise plc’s listing on AIM, the London Stock Exchange’s market for medium sized growing companies. Utilitywise plc was the first company in the region to join AIM for five years.

The Law Society – Legal Sector Alliance Award 2012 winner: Excellence in Environmental Responsibility

In October 2012 we were awarded the Legal Sector Alliance Award for Excellence in Environmental Responsibility.  The award recognises our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and adopting environmentally sustainable practices. The judges were impressed by our approach to becoming “responsible business’, and the engagement levels of our people who were involved in a range of sustainability projects.

For well over 10 years our people have been encouraged to help us to invest in the communities in which we live and work.  The award is very important to us and reflects the culture and attitude of our people, which underpins who we are and what we do.

LawWorks Annual Awards 2011 winner: Best Partner Level Engagement in a Law Firm and Best Contribution by a Regional Law Firm

We received national recognition for our work with the local community at the LawWorks Awards 2011. For the second year running the Muckle team was awarded Best Contribution by a Regional Law Firm for our community contribution and strong links in the North East.   Hugh Welch, our senior partner, also received the award for Best Partner Level Engagement in a Law Firm, which is judged against all law firms in the UK, and recognises Muckle LLP’s commitment to pro bono and community work at every level of the business.
