Equality & Diversity

Our team regularly advise employers on equality and diversity issues and the practical application of the laws to their employees, from the first steps of recruitment to the ending of any employment relationship.

We have a particular insight into equality and diversity issues in the North East as Paul Johnstone is a member of the Networking for Change Steering Committee which works closely with Equality North East to promote best practice on equality and diversity in our region.

Here’s how we can help

We provide training on all aspects of discrimination law, most notably to help employers with any statutory defence argument against discrimination claims.

We can advise you on:

  • the statutory questionnaire process;
  • implementing equality and diversity policies;
  • monitoring and review procedures;
  • public sector duties to promote good practice in relation to equality and diversity; and
  • employment tribunal proceedings relating to discrimination claims on the basis of sex, race, disability, religious and philosophical belief, sexual orientation and age.

New duties on directors to address equality issues

New equality regulations have come into effect that could have a significant impact on how directors must behave in order to comply with their fiduciary duties under Companies Act 2006.  For more information please view or download our PDF.
