Energy

There aren’t many UK law firms who have energy sector expertise, but we do.

Our experience is far reaching advising nationally on issues within the biofuels, offshore and onshore wind, oil and gas, solar, coal, nuclear and gasification sectors.

This includes highlights such as advising Europe’s largest handler of biomass, advising on the IPO of Utilitywise plc (an energy supply and efficiency services company), establishing one of only four solar farms that were built before the FiT’s dropped in 2011 and providing contract support for the fabrication of an offshore oil and gas platform.

Our capabilities in protecting and expanding commercial operations are equally as relevant if you are involved in the energy supply chain.

Our experience is supplemented by consultants Professor Ian Fells and Alastair Fells, who are internationally recognised experts in the energy sector.  Professor Fells was the founder Chairman of the New and Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), was Science Adviser to The World Energy Council and has been Special Adviser to several Parliamentary committees concerning energy and the environment. He is Energy Adviser to the European Parliament and has advised a number of foreign governments on energy policy.

We take an active role in promoting and supporting the sector through training, providing a discussion forum and by contributing to sector bodies, such as the North East Energy leadership Council.

“Working with the team at Muckle has been invaluable to us – both in terms of their strategic guidance and their commercially focused legal advice. The renewable energy market is at an incredibly exciting time and the responsiveness from the Muckle team was excellent. Everyone was dedicated to meeting our objectives and had the same attitude in terms of making things as easy for us as they could."
