Our vacation placement scheme gives you the opportunity to be a "trainee" for a week. It gives you an excellent opportunity to experience the culture of the firm and also to see if Muckle LLP is the right place for you to begin your career in the law. Of course, it also enables us to get to know you.
You will get experience of each of the main practice areas; corporate finance, commercial, property, employment and dispute resolution together with the work that some of our other specialist teams do. The work is varied but more importantly it is real legal work that the trainees or other team members would be doing. We do not give set tasks or ask you to take psychometric tests. We are interested in how you fit into our working environment.
We only have around 12 to 15 students on vacation placement each year. The benefit of having a smaller scheme is that it gives you a better opportunity to meet the team and better experience of the type of work and clients that we deal with. The vacation placement is a two way process for us. We are looking to see if you fit the role as a future trainee and you can test whether Muckle is the right firm for you.
One of our current trainees will be on hand to act as a "buddy" and help you settle in. You will also have a review session at the end of the week with a member of the graduate recruitment team. There will also be a lunch with our current trainees where you can ask plenty of questions as to what life as a trainee is like. Unwinding with the team at the end of the week over a drink or two is a great way to wind down and ask those final few questions.
We recommend that you apply for a vacation placement in the same year as you apply for a training contract.
