In the hot seat..
How do you see the commercial team developing over the next few years?
To be recognised by business and public sector clients in the region as niche, key advisers, focused on delivering an exceptional service and first rate, quality advice. I want us to be one of the first names that come to mind for anyone looking for commercial advice in the region - the firm that people want to use, with a reputation for delivering service excellence.
How would you describe your team?
Extremely able, highly motivated and desperate to please both their colleagues and our clients.
Why did you choose to work at Muckle LLP?
The people, the focus on the region, the type of clients we act for and also because of its keen interest in the community. Its people are its greatest potential.
What's the best piece of business advice you've had?.....and what's the worst?
If you look after your people, everything else will fall into place. Worst - you can't have fun in business!
What has been the most challenging legal deal you've been involved in?
The public/private partnership for Newcastle Airport, which involved bringing together the seven local authority owners of Newcastle Airport with Copenhagen Airport. Negotiating this complex £300 million deal was full of interesting challenges.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Slapstick - Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, The 2 Ronnie's, Keystone Cops. Simple, stupid, silliness!
Is there anything you'd change about yourself?
Taking more time to understand others better and being better at helping others achieve their full potential.
What are your personal ambitions?
Never to miss an opportunity and to feel I've made the biggest difference that I could. To feel that there's nothing I would have changed and that I've made the most of my talents.
Which 4 famous people dead or alive would you most like to take to dinner?
Orri Vigfusson - chairman of the North Atlantic Salmon Fund. Jimmy Allen - piper to the Duchess of Northumberland in the 1700's, a legend of Northumberland, Faberge and Charles Darwin.
