Peter is a partner in our commercial team and has a wide ranging expertise in commercial law.  Peter advises companies on all aspects of corporate finance  including mergers, acquisitions, MBIs, MBOs, business transfers, commercialisations and spin outs. Peter also works closely with all Muckle LLP trainees in his role as training mentor.

How do you see the commercial team developing?
The specialisations within the team will only develop further. We're all damn good at delivering specialist advice; I think that we will become more focussed, and our service delivery will become consistently excellent.

How would you describe your team?
Cracking.

What has been the most challenging legal deal you've been involved in?
There have been quite a few! There is one share organisation that stands out not because it was intrinsically challenging but because of the nature and character of my opposing lawyer. He was obnoxious and obstructive and delayed the transaction for months, during which time he busied himself by sending me some pretty outrageous correspondence and making some pretty outrageous statements. It was water off a ducks back to me, frankly, but it did start to prejudice the deal. Ultimately, I adapted a strategy to play up to him and make him look good in front of his client. This worked - we got the deal done but it was the most exasperating and tortuous deal I've ever done.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Becoming part of a client's team and working with them to achieve their business objectives.

What's the last CD you bought?
'A Bigger Bang' - The Rolling Stones.

What are your personal ambitions?
1. To complete the Great Traverse of the Black Cuillin Ridge on Skye.
2. To die with my walking boots on (hopefully not whilst attempting the above!)

Are you a morning or evening person?
Evening.

What's your biggest extravagance?
Out of print, rare books.

Which 4 famous people dead or alive would you most like to take to dinner?
Winston Churchill, George Mallory, Sandy Irvine and Elvis.
