Corporate Law Firm of the Year
At the third North East Insider Dealmaker Awards dinner held at Gosforth Marriott on 10 September 2009, Muckle LLP was again successful in three categories, winning some prestigious awards including 'Corporate Law Firm of the Year' ahead of other nominees Dickinson Dees, Ward Hadaway and Eversheds.
Corporate lawyer of the Year
The awards, voted for by the North East corporate finance community, saw success for Partner and Head of the Commercial Services Group Robert Phillips, winning "Corporate Lawyer of the Year" for the second year in a row.
Deal of the year
The management buyout of Newcastle based Quantum Specials, by Muckle LLP, was voted Deal of the year. This is noteworthy in that a deal of such proportions has been successfully negotiated in a recession hit economy. The buyout included funding of £32.5m from Lloyds Development Capital and Yorkshire Bank together with continuing management investment and a level of vendor consideration being re-invested.
