North East’s deal of the year
VERTU Motors, £25m flotation on AIM and reverse takeover of Bristol Street Motors.
Andrew Davison said: “Vertu really was a great deal for the region, bringing the North East another plc, giving us another major car dealership and demonstrating that North East advisers can provide a service to match anything from London, however complex the deal."
It was a deal that brought together Brewin Dolphin (Brokers), Barclays (Debt finance), Deloitte & Touche (Tax advisers), PricewaterhouseCoopers (Auditors and reporting accountants), Eversheds and Dickinson Dees (who also won the award for Law Firm of the Year).

Andrew Davison said: "The Vertu deal is a prime example of what can be achieved by entrepreneurs who refuse to allow anything to limit their ambition. We are delighted Vertu won deal of the year as the float and subsequent acquisition of Bristol Street Motors were complex deals to work on and called for skilled advisers, all from the region, to work closely together to deliver results."
Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu Motors said: “We did it with North East advisers and they did a phenomenally good job. What they have done is very complicated, floating a company then suspending the shares and readmitting to AIM is not easy.”
